Water Baptism

About

Water Baptism symbolizes the end of our old life and the beginning of a new life in Christ. And then Jesus pushed it farther, saying, “If you believe and are baptized, you will be saved”. While we do not hold that water baptism is necessary for your eternal security, it is a critical ingredient in the journey toward wholeness that Jesus promised in salvation. At Cathedral, we get really excited when someone is baptized!

Prior to baptism, we ask that you attend a Water Baptism Class which will give you a biblical understanding of all of this so that you may know how to believe when you are baptized. This class will also provide the practical information you need about what happens in a baptism service.

Parents who want to investigate whether their pre-teen child is ready for water baptism should attend the Water Baptism class along with their child. As you observe them in the class and their response to what is taught, you will be able to tell if the time is right for them to be baptized. Parents of young children should take advantage of our Child Dedication Service and the class that accompanies it.
